Esports in Ireland takes yet another step forward with the introduction of the inaugural Ireland Esports Collegiate Summer Tournament, spearheaded by the visionary team at Nativz Gaming. This exciting event will give past and present Irish students a chance to re-connect during the holidays across a diverse array of gaming titles, marking a significant milestone in the burgeoning Irish esports scene.
The 2024 Ireland Esports Collegiate Summer Tournament will feature a dynamic lineup of 10 game titles, offering participants and viewers an unparalleled gaming experience. Among these titles are beloved classics and thrilling newcomers, including the trial additions of Fortnite, Call of Duty, Apex Legends, and TeamFight Tactics.
Taking a more social approach to foster a vibrant esports community by adopting alternative formats which will see a max team size of three players in Apex Legends with League of Legends, Rocket League and Counter-Strike 2 all having 2v2 formations. The remaining game titles, including Valorant, will be 1v1 or solo player. Preliminary matches will unfold throughout the week from Monday to Friday. The culmination of skill and strategy will reach its climax during the Finals, scheduled to play across Saturday and Sunday.
This year's Summer Tournament not only celebrates the passion and dedication of current collegiate esports athletes but also extends a warm welcome back to esteemed Alumni from Collegiate Esports in Ireland. Their ability to participate not only adds an extra layer of excitement and nostalgia to an already electrifying event, its the first step in reconnecting.
In leveraging the production strength built up over the last Ireland Esports Collegiate Series, the tournament will be simulcast live across multiple platforms, ensuring widespread accessibility and engagement. Esports enthusiasts can tune in to the action-packed showdowns streamed seamlessly on both Ireland Collegiate and Nativz Esports Club Twitch, YouTube, and X (formerly Twitter) channels.
Ronan Monaghan, Ireland Collegiate Operations Lead, emphasised the significance of experimenting with new titles, stating, "As new students enter third-level education, it's crucial to recognise the titles they play such as Fortnite and ensure inclusivity within our esports community. The accessibility of mobile-based games such as Teamfight Tactics opens doors for a wider audience to participate and excel in collegiate esports."
